What is Neurofeedback? How does it work? Neurofeedback provides the brain with information about what it is doing in real-time. It's sort of like having the brain look in the mirror and recognize itself. (Imagine yourself looking in the mirror and recognizing, "Hey, that's me!")
The more information the brain has about itself, the better the brain becomes at the tasks of self-regulation and self-calming. As Sue says in the video you're about to watch, once the brain learns to do this, it can choose to do it all the time. Helping you focus and pay attention better, fall asleep more easily, calm yourself more quickly when you become upset. Check out this excellent video by EEGInfo that describes what it is and how it works. Nikki Schwartz provides Neurofeedback in Virginia Beach, in a location convenient to Norfolk & Chesapeake clients. |
